Marty is an experienced sport and recreation professional with over 20 years' experience across local government, facility operations, and community sport. He has held senior roles with Christchurch City Council and Waimakariri District Council, managing recreation and sport facilities and leading projects across planning, operations, and programme delivery.
He has extensive experience in strategy development, community asset management, and stakeholder engagement, working closely with elected members, sporting organisations, and community groups to deliver practical and sustainable outcomes. His work spans facility and network planning, event delivery, and operational leadership.
Marty brings a strong understanding of both strategic planning and day-to-day operations, enabling him to support projects from concept through to implementation.
Outside of work, Marty enjoys playing cricket and touch rugby and regularly participates in running events. He is married with two teenage children.
