Project Description

The University of Waikato sought to explore potential options for the future of its UniRec facility, driven by multiple key factors and a strong desire for change. To support this initiative, RSL conducted a comprehensive investigation into the desired future state of UniRec, focusing on membership trends, facility usage, and stakeholder needs.

RSL’s Role

A detailed needs analysis and feasibility study were carried out, considering university-specific demographics, stakeholder input, and broader industry trends. Based on this research, multiple redevelopment options were presented, with a significant facility upgrade strongly recommended as the preferred approach.

Project Outcome

UniRec is now progressing through internal review processes, with the goal of advancing towards the business case development phase to further test the key drivers and assumptions of this proposed development.
