Project Description

The Northland Aquatics Facilities Plan (2023) identified that the Kaipara East area has the most limited level of pool provision in Te Tai Tokerau, where the Mangawhai area is the key growth area. The shortage of pool space is projected to grow significantly if no further aquatic space is provided.

RSL’s Role

Sport Northland commissioned Recreation Sport and Leisure Consultancy (RSL) to undertake a preliminary feasibility study to identify a range of options to meet the aquatic needs of the Mangawhai community.

Project Outcome

This report identified several options to increase community access to aquatic facilities, and a preliminary schedule of spaces was developed for the preferred facility option. This option was further explored with the main spaces required in a potential aquatic facility outlined in detail.
