It was fantastic to see Te Tai Tokerau regional planning projects, including Kōkiri ai Te Waka Hourua - a region-wide strategy for play, active recreation and sport - receiving recognition at last week's Recreation Aotearoa | Te Whai Oranga Aotearoa National Awards for an outstanding research, planning or policy project.
Congratulations to Sport Northland, Sport New Zealand, Northland Sports Coalition, Te Kahu O Taonui, Northland Regional Council, Whangarei District Council, Kaipara District Council and Far North District Council for having the vision to undertake a region-wide approach to play, active recreation and sport.
RSL was privileged to be given the responsibility to work with this collective to develop this strategy and two associated plans. It is great to see the impacts this planning is already having within the region.
